Interview in Wine Table
I was recently featured in an article in Wine Table, where I will also be writing a short article serie about South Africa. My trip there during harvest earlier this year was very inspiring and I want to share what I learnt and saw during my time there. But before those articles are published they wrote a fun piece with me (in Swedish) about wine, food and where I like to go out for a glass. Read it here.
PIWOSA Women in Wine
Last year I found out I received a scholarship through PIWOSA called Women in Wine, where I together with three other sommeliers. The scholarship included three weeks in South Africa. I was staying at a vineyard called De Grendel and helping out in the vineyard and winery to see the other side of the wine business. We travelled a lot to other wineries and regions, as well as discovered the food and wine scene in Cape Town. It was one of the best and most educational experiences I’ve ever had and I can’t wait to go back. Until then I look forward to sharing my new found passion for South African wine through tastings and articles here in Sweden.
Discover South Africa with me
In April I’m doing a two hour tasting at Vinkällan Dryckesutbildningar for anyone interested in South Africa. I just came back to Sweden after three weeks in South Africa, helping out with the harvest at De Grendel in Durbanville, as well as travelling other wine regions. It was quite the trip and I feel both inspired and full of passion for the South African wine industry. If you, as me, want to know more join me in April.
WSET Level 4 Diploma Alumni
I just found out I passed my WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines that I have studied for the two last years through the WSET School in London. It feels amazing to finally be done, but it truly has been an outstanding and educational time and travel through the world of wine. I am so happy to be able to call myself Tina Johansson DipWSET after a lot of hard work.

A week ago I was nominated in a Swedish gala prizing women in the restaurant business called Stellagalan. I am, together with two other talented sommeliers, nominated for this years Stella Sommelier which is such an honor. Feel free to read more about in in Swedish here.
Vana Tallinn Grand Prix 2019
A week ago I had the opportunity to travel to Riga and enter the competition Vana Tallinn Grand Prix 2019 as a guest competitor. This competition is recognized as the Baltic Championship so entering was very fun and trying. Since I was a guest competitor I could not hold a place or a titel as “a Baltic Champion”, but nevertheless I made it into the final which was as much as I could hope to do. It was a good experience and definitely some needed practice. Sending a big congratulation to Kaspars Reitups from Riga who won the Baltic Championship.
